ALL IN

 

“Joyfully, voluntarily, and quietly submit one’s whole life to

the Lord’s will.”

 

Heather Vandygriff taught our lesson this week, continuing with the Relief Society presidency theme, "ALL IN."  Sister Vandygriff explained that ALL IN will look different for every sister.  She observed and asked two sisters to share how they were being ALL IN for their families.  Rebecca Craig shared a tender poem and related the day to day efforts of raising a son with autism.  Kimberly MacDonagh was asked to share about how her family brought her niece into their home to live with them.  Each of these sisters responds to the needs of their family joyfully, voluntarily, and quietly even though it is not always easy.

Heather highlighted several benefits of being ALL IN as conveyed in a talk given by Virginia Hinckley Pearce, "May Christ Lift Thee Up."  Several blessing from being ALL IN include:

• We will live our covenants.
• Our accountability to God will be clearer and our scrambling to meet the expectations of everyone else will be muted. 
• We will never be truly victimized by our failures, adverse circumstances, or the bad choices of other people.  Equally important, we will not be victimized by success.
• We will live with the security that our real needs will be met and that we will be fully able to do our part in meeting the real needs of others.
• We will be assured success!
• We will expect to have to make this choice (to be ALL IN) many, many times.

Our part is easy...in faith, each of us takes the only thing we truly have to offer the Lord, our heart, and we can offer it back to Him joyfully, voluntarily, and quietly. Be ALL IN.
