Personal Peace
"Peace is a promised gift of the Savior’s mission and atoning sacrifice." President Heber J. Grant described the Savior’s peace this way: “His peace will ease our suffering, bind up our broken hearts, blot out our hates, engender in our breasts a love of fellow men that will suffuse our souls with calm and happiness.”
Heidi Romney beautifully taught the TFOT lesson this week based on Elder Cook's talk, Personal Peace. Sister Romney had us close our eyes and listen to beautiful, soothing music. As we sank into a calm, Heidi began to rustle around and make disturbing noises. Finally, the music abruptly changed to a loud, less soothing tune. She reiterated Elder Cook's message that an abiding world peace will not be ours until the Savior comes again. However, we are promised a sure, personal peace as a reward for righteousness.
Follow the link above to listen to Katherine Nelson's version of "Where Can I Turn for Peace." The Savior, amid our turmoil and during our trials can bring each of us the peace we seek. He will come. He will listen. He understands He heals. His peace is not "just a temporary tranquility. It is an abiding deep happiness and spiritual contentment."
