Thank you to Jeanette Rainey who taught our TFOT lesson from Elder Russell M. Nelson's October 2011 General Conference talk, "Covnenants."
From the talk, "We know that when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated." We discussed covenants that had been made throughout history and recorded in the scriptures - especially the covenant that God made with Abraham in the Old Testament. The promises made in that covenant pertain to each of us for, "Some of us are the literal seed of Abraham; others are gathered into his family by adoption. The Lord makes no distinction. Together we receive these promised blessings (fullness of the gospel, blessings of the priesthood and eternal life) - if we seek the Lord and obey His commandments."
It is important to realize that as children of the covenant, we know who we are and what God expects of us.
