Our March Relief Society Activity was a celebration of the 170th Birthday of the Relief Society organization. The Relief Society was established on March 17, 1842.
We began the evening with dinner.
Here are some links to recipes from the evening:
Sweet Pulled Pork
Cilantro Lime Rice
Creamy Lime-Cilantro Dressing
Cilantro Lime Rice
We had 4 extremely lovely tables to sit at. Each table represented a season - and in keeping with the birthday theme the sisters were asked to sit at the table for the season that their birthday happens in. For instance my birthday is in September, so I got to sit at the lovely Fall themed table.
With these fun sisters who share the same birthday season.
Do you see those caramel apples sitting on each plate? Not only are they pretty, but they taste amazing. If you would like the recipe click here.
LOADS OF THANKS TO LISA SCHAACK FOR DECORATING OUR FANTASTIC FALL TABLE!!!
Here is the winter table.
And some of our winter birthday ladies.
Look at these darling napkin rings that were at their table.
THANK YOU TO KELLIE BARKER FOR DECORATING OUR WONDERFUL WINTER TABLE!!!
Next of course comes Spring - a bright and happy table for our Spring birthday sisters.
Here are some of our "spring chickens."
Who got a birds eye view of this lovely centerpiece which was custom made by Shahna's sweet hubby!

Last but not least was the summer bee-day table. It was all the buzz that night ;)
Here are some of our summer birthday sisters visiting.
There were so many "bee"utiful little details to look at.
THANK YOU TO TANA CORDY FOR DECORATING OUR SASSY SUMMER TABLE!!!
After dinner our Relief Society president, Heidi Romney, gave a short talk on the organization of Relief Society and how it is "Something Extraordinary." Here is a video that inspired her thoughts for the night.
Then it was time for some birthday games. First we played a round of "Jeopardy" with Relief Society themed categories and questions.
The winning table happened to be the Spring table. And our scorekeeper, Sheri, happens to have a Spring birthday. . .hmmmmmm ;)
Next we played musical chairs - and we were all winners because no one got hurt!
| I love this picture - look at everyone's funny faces :) |
And it wouldn't be a birthday without cake. We had the most delicious and beautiful birthday cake and cupcakes designed and made by Tori and Tonya Abel.
Thank you to everyone who helped and came to participate. Bethlehem Place, our local food bank was very grateful for all of our donations - especially the cake mixes, frosting and candles that they will make into birthday kits to be given out.
