How well do you know Christina Huston?

The Facts

• She was born in Castro Valley, California, and spent many of her childhood years in Pleasanton and Sonora, California.
• She has also lived in:  Sacramento, Hanford, and Woodland, California; Reno, Nevada; Camas, Washington; and Plano, Frisco, and Celina, Texas.
• She is the eldest in her family and has one sister eight years younger.
• She graduated from Sacramento State, studying to be a nurse but later moving into management.
• She is celebrating 29 years as a manager for JC Penney; she is currently a visual merchandise manager.
• She met her husband at a neighborhood function and they have been married for 20 years.
• She has two daughters and two grandsons! Her eldest lives in the area and has an 18-month-old, and her youngest recently moved to Reno with her 11-year-old son.
• Her nursing skills have come in handy with her grandmothers; Christina cares for her father’s mother as well as her mother’s mother, who are both 87 years young.
• She enjoys reading, spending time with her family, and snow skiing—and she recently took up kayaking!
• September 7, 2012 marked her 7th year of being cancer free!*

Christina was diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer in September 2004. She had a bone marrow transplant in September 2005. She states that it was an amazing adventure for her family; her kids know that she is a very strong person and the experience has knit their hearts closer together.

“Cinnamon.”

“Sharing time with my family.”

What is your favorite holiday?

“Birthdays, as they are your day!”

“Sunrise, as it is the beginning of all things possible.”
