Getting to Know You!

How well do you know Tina Scott?

The Facts

  • She was born right here in Dallas, Texas, but she says she is not really a true Texan because she doesn’t say y’all.
  • Her dad was in the Air Force, so she has lived in several locations, including Balch Springs; Bitburg, Germany (her personal favorite, from ages 8 to 12); New Mexico; California; and Arizona.
  • She is the oldest of five children, with two brothers and two sisters.
  • She attended Collin County Community College (now Collin College), Texas A&M, and then UT Tyler for studies in nursing. She graduated in General Studies with an emphasis in nursing and worked as a dental assistant for six years before having children.
  • When she was 25, she met her husband at an Institute class through a mutual friend.  She knew that Jeremy was the right choice for her after just a few months of dating. They have now been married 9½ years.
  • She has three wonderful children:
                  Asher, age 12
                  Ayden, age 5
                  Addison, age 2

  • She has had several interesting jobs: a kennel assistant at a veterinarian office; an assistant in the college campus career center; a technician in a rat lab, an oceanography lab, and an environmental lab; and an assistant in a dental office. She particularly enjoyed working with animals at the vet’s office and getting to know the patients at the dentist office.
  • She loves doing crafts, baking, shopping, decorating, and finding new ideas for all of those things on Pinterest!
  • Her mom is German and she can speak a little German.*

*The Rest of the Story

Tina’s parents met in Germany while her father was serving in the Air Force. Her family has always spoken a little German in their home, but her mom mostly spoke in English. Tina visited her relatives often in Germany, including her grandparents, who have lived in Trier since they were a young couple. She loves all of the history of that city, including the Roman ruins and old churches.

In Her Own Words

If you had an extra room in your house, what would you use it for?

"This is not very exciting, but I would use it for a playroom.  We don't have one yet and it'd be nice not to be surrounded by toys :)"

What is your favorite city to visit or one that you hope to visit?

"I love Bavaria (in Germany) we visited those castles several times during the summer and they were just beautiful!"

What candy or treat reminds you most of your youth?

"I remember eating Rice Krispy treats with my friends and watching my favorite movie: Grease 2!"

If you could be famous for doing anything, what would it be?

"I’ve always loved music, so probably singing or playing some sort of instrument."

What is your favorite season and why?

"I love Fall and Spring. In the fall it cools down and all the holidays start coming. In spring, all the flowers come out and I get all giddy going to pick out plants for my flowerbed and garden!"
