Getting to Know You!

How well do you know Rebecca Craig?

The Facts

• She was born in California and has also lived in Missouri and Texas. She and her family moved to Celina from Mansfield, which in the southeast Arlington area.
• She is the fourth of six children, with three sisters and two brothers. Most of her siblings live in California, and one is in Kentucky.
• She attended college at Cal State Fullerton and studied child and adolescent studies, planning to be an elementary school teacher. When she found that she didn’t really like the program, she took a break from school and decided to work, first at a credit card company and later at a plumbing company, with hopes of seeing how things developed with a certain young man who was serving a mission at the time.*
• She met her husband in the same singles ward in which her parents first met!
• She has four lovely children:
• Emma, age 12
• Micah, age 10
• Sarah, age 8
• Jonah, age 5
• She currently homeschools and feels that she is using her college education, perhaps just not in the way she had planned. :)
• She likes to read, although she rarely has the time; she enjoys painting and refinishing furniture, like her kitchen cabinets; she loves movies and playing games with the kids.
• A unique characteristic of Rebecca is that when she gets really tired (which she says happens often), she tends to sing weird songs and do other silly things. So her husband always knows when she is overly tired.

*The Rest of the Story

Rebecca’s husband James jokes that she turned him down the first time he asked her out. Rebecca knew he was about to go on a mission, and she didn’t want to start dating him because she knew she wouldn’t want to let him go. She says that she used to have dreams about her future husband where his face was blurred. When she first saw James at the singles ward, he caught her eye and she realized he was literally the man of her dreams!

After her husband left on his mission, she didn’t write to him right away; she was dating someone else. However, when James mailed her a birthday card, Rebecca began to read it and right then she felt that he was the one she should marry. She surprised him at the airport upon his return. She says that when she saw him, “my heart did a flip” and she realized she had had lots of hints that he was the one.

If you could vacation anywhere in the US, where would it be?

“I would say Alaska. It seems like it would be really neat to visit.”

What is your favorite movie? 

“I like scary movies.”

What small business would you like to start?  

“I did do a daycare before, but wouldn't want to do it again. We have dogs, so maybe a pet store.”

What song do you love to dance to? 

“Anything that’s upbeat. I don't have a favorite. If I hear a good beat, I can dance to anything!”
